ROCKY MOUNT - Marie Herbert Lewis, age 88, passed away June 24, 2023. Born in Nash County on July 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William Alfred Herbert and Clara Lucille Dozier Herbert. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William "Billy" Ernest Herbert and Joseph "Boyd" Herbert; and the father of her daughters, Jimmy Lewis.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Joan Lewis Outlaw and husband, Randy, and Susan Lewis Andrews and husband, Ronnie; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Linda Herbert; four nieces and one nephew.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Nathan Whitman officiating. The family will be available to receive friends and relatives immediately following the graveside service.
