Finding a friend in Jesus

Did you know that a Christian friend is almost twice as likely to lead your child or grandchild to Christ as their own pastor? In fact, a friend has a better chance of leading them to Christ than you do. These observations should not come as a surprise. We've all seen the power that friends have over our children.
Jesus illustrated the power that a friend can have when he first met Nicodemus.

Intersections: God and Life

For many, New Year's is just another holiday. For others, it's a time of deep reflection, both on the past year and on the one ahead. For followers of Jesus, New Year's has no unique significance. There's no central biblical narrative informing our celebrations.
But this doesn't mean Christians shouldn't pause and reflect on the turning of the calendar.

Nash County Animal Friends' Notebook

When the New Year rolls around, people typically make resolutions for themselves. If you have a pet consider making a resolution for them as well.
If you do not take your pet to the veterinarian please make it a New Year's resolution to start doing an annual visit. It is the best way to spot potential health problems before they get worse. If some conditions are allowed to progress, they will be more difficult and expensive to treat.

Looking forward to 2022 - no other choice!

Before the week is out, we will be in 2022.
While that seems obvious to anyone with a pulse, I'll be honest -- 2019, 2020 and 2021 have kind of been like a skipping vinyl record.
The same folks I run into that say before Christmas "I'll just be glad when it's over" are now transitioning to "New Year? It's just another day on the calendar." They must be great at parties.

Remembering some outstanding people

This week brings sad news for Nashville and Nash County.
Though he had been retired since 2018, it's still hard to digest the news that Nashville's legendary entrepreneur, Wayne J. Land, passed away this week.
He started his business venture operation in a small country store. He didn't start out a wealthy man nor a man who had deep pockets for investments. He wasn't born into a family who had money to hand out either.

STILL ON THE BUILD

CLEVELAND -- Historically speaking, Nash Central High School's girls basketball program probably hasn't gotten the credit is has deserved during its 20-yard history.
The Bulldogs have featured only one coach over the period -- Terri Cash -- so continuity has never been an issue.

RM'S TO LOSE?

NASH COUNTY -- The Big East Conference girls basketball schedule is only three games old -- with 11 more contests to play -- but some trends are already starting develop. And none of them are overwhelmingly unexpected.
Talk among most of the league's coaches in the preseason was that the Rocky Mount Lady Gryphons were the prohibitive favorites to win the Big East -- and RM has done nothing to date to dispel that notion.
