Nash County Animal Friends' Notebook

I find myself thinking back to all the found dog posts I've seen. When people say, "I've found a dog and trying to find a new home for it because I can't keep and don't want to take it to the Shelter." I want to scream at them because it is obvious that they aren't trying to find the owner. So, if you aren't going to make a real effort to find the owner, take the dog to the Shelter because there is the logical place for people to search for their dog. If you are concerned you are putting the dog at risk, remember they keep strays at least 3 business days, and you can keep watch and snatch it back if it gets in danger!

Intersections: God and Life

I love this Church hymn. We sing it often at Castalia Baptist Church.
On last Sunday, I preached a message asking, "What do you do if you only have 1-hour to live?"
I actually asked that question of about a dozen people last week and I was amazed by the responses. One person replied to the question, "I'd erase my hard-drive."

Kent turns 17, birthdays taking toll on dad

Three family birthdays in the span of seven days is a tough road to hoe for a man weak of wallet and highly susceptible to temptation.
Birthdays are a big time around my house. The honoree not only gets presents, but gets the meal of his or her choice.
In just the last few days, I've had Pad Thai, frozen coffee, a mashup of Oreos and cheesecake and Olive Garden, a place that has this nonsense going on where they will bring you salad and breadsticks until you tell them to stop.

Congratulations to our "ramp guys"

If you missed the Nashville Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen reception last week, you truly missed an inspiring evening.
The chamber presented its annual Distinguished Citizen award to a group of folks who are most deserving. I don't recall an event in the past 30 years of handing out the award that was met with such emotion across the entire room. It was evident the chamber made a good choice for this year's recipient!
