Emmett L. Tatum, Jr., age 96, passed away January 22, 2025. He was born in Edgecombe County on July 6, 1928 to Emmett and Blanche Fryer Tatum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Denative Poland Tatum; daughter, Lenae June Tatum and sister, Blanche Trent.

He is survived by his children, Lynette Tatum of Rocky Mount, JoElla T. Webb (Bruce) of Nashville and Duncan Emmett Tatum (Wendy) of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

A service was held January 26, 2025 at Oakdale Baptist Church, Rocky Mount. A brief service of committal took place at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount on Monday, January 27, 2025.
