Elizabeth "Betty" Johnston Gunther, 78, passed away March 18, 2017. Born in Beckley, WV on March 16, 1939, she and her family moved to Rocky Mount in 1985.

She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Alvah Ray Gunther, Jr.; parents, Cecil and Mary Virginia Johnston; along with two brothers, William and Carl Johnston.

She is survived by her children, Gene and Alice Gunther, Donald and Susie Gunther, Michael Gunther, Gary and Brenda Gunther, Crissy and Allan Moore; sister, Judy and Bob Martin; brother, Robert Thomas and Linda Johnston; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Englewood United Methodist Church, and the family will receive friends following the service.
