JAMES LUCIUS WHITLEY, JR. and PEGGY JO FINCH JOHNSON WHITLEY

ENFIELD - James Lucius Whitley, Jr., age 76, and his wife, Peggy Jo Finch Johnson Whitley, age 67, were taken away on Monday, August 21, 2017. James was born in Nash County, NC on June 22, 1941, and was the son of the late James Lucius Whitley, Sr. and Virginia Moss Whitley. Peggy Jo was born in Wilson County, NC on July 3, 1950, and was the daughter of the late Harold Wade Finch and Doris Finch Bass. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry and Bruce Finch.

James and Peggy Jo were married on May 18, 1991. James attended NC State University and was the owner and operator of JAVALU FARMS. Peggy Jo attended Mitchells Cosmetology School and was the owner of The Golden Comb (The Best Little Hair House in Wilson) and worked at Ross McDaniels Salon before retiring. They both were very active in the community, James with the Shriners and Peggy Jo with the Shrinettes. They also attended Enfield Baptist Church. James and Peggy Jo will be truly missed by all who knew and loved them.

James and Peggy Jo leave behind to cherish their memory, son, James Lucius "Luke" Whitley, III and fiancé, Jade Halsey; daughter, Pattie Johnson Davis, and husband, Joey. They are also survived by grandchildren, Lucius Whitley, and Justin Davis; Ricky H. Finch, brother of Peggy Jo; Connie F. Joyner, sister of Peggy Jo; Lee Finch and Hayley Finch Jones, nephew and niece of Peggy Jo.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date. There will be a vigil on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in James's and Peggy Jo's name to the Enfield Fire Department, 12719 NC-481, Enfield, NC 27823 or Enfield Baptist Church, 200 W. Burnette Ave., Enfield, NC 27823, or the Enfield Masonic Lodge, 137 SE Railroad St. Enfield, NC, NC 27823 or the Rocky Mount Shrine Club, 320 Airport Rd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
