ELM CITY, NC-Effie Lee Davis Richards, 87, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006.

She was born in Nashville, NC, November 6, 1918, daughter of the late Johnie Richard Davis and Ella Mae Robbins Davis.

Mrs. Richards was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Her sister, Christine Davis Glover, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Carolyn McKee and husband, Joe, of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren, Alisa Willenbacher and husband, Michael, of New Port Richey, Florida, Robin Tukua and husband, Kirk, of Acworth, Georgia; six great-grandchildren, Kristie, Brandon, Erika, Breanna, Kiersten, Kelsey to whom she was affectionally known as "Sugar Grandma." Sister, Mary D. Boone and husband, Buddy (W.O.), of Elm City, NC; brothers, Johnie E. Davis and wife, Helen, of Rocky Mount, NC and Joe Davis and wife, Shirley, of Nashville, NC.

The family received friends from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2006 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 1912 Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC.

A gathering to celebrate her life was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Gleason and Rev. Jerry Braziel officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Special thanks to Dr. Crocker, Dr. Emanuel and staff, Autumn Care and staff, Nash General and staff, Dr. Boyette and Hospice staff and Life Care and staff.
