ROCKY MOUNT - Alton Earl Parks, age 87, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020. Born in Halifax County on May 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Leslie Rogers Parks and Caddie Leona Overton Parks. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Joann Ward Parks; daughter, Gloria Coward Harris; grandson, Timothy Wayne Johnson; sister, Doris Parks Gougan; and brother, Leslie Samuel "Sammy" Parks.

He is survived by his sons, Stacy Michael Parks and Bradford Ward Parks and his wife Pamela; daughters, Linda Coward Davis and husband Kenneth, Ann Coward Sherrill and husband Gene, and Sandra Coward Johnson and husband Wayne; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister Edna Parks Coggins; brothers, Lloyd Rogers Parks and his wife Dahlia and Wilbard Howard Parks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Battleboro United Methodist Church, 229 E Battleboro Ave, Battleboro, with Rev. Parker Phillips officiating. Burial will follow the service at Battleboro Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the Battleboro United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
