ROCKY MOUNT - Ambler Lee Dixon, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Born in Edgecombe County on August 6, 1925, he was the son of the late Jessie Dixon and Leathie Weeks Dixon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Lois Thrower Dixon; his daughter, Mary Ann Walston; brothers, Harold Dixon, Don Dixon, Larry Dixon, and Roland Dixon; and his sister, Margaret Dixon Marks.

Ambler is survived by his daughters, Shelby Dixon Poythress and husband, Dennis, of Knightdale and Katherine Dixon "Kathy" Gardner and husband, Elton, of Richmond, VA; a son-in-law Kenneth Walston of Red Oak; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his brother, Alden Dixon of Conover; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate Ambler's life will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
