ROBERT LEE MATTHEWS, JR.

MIDDLESEX - Robert Lee Matthews, Jr., 79, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at Stony Hill Free Will Baptist Church, Middlesex, on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Interment will follow in the Stone Memorial Cemetery, 9009 Stone Heritage Road, Middlesex.

Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce S. Matthews; daughter, Christy Manning and husband, Brian of Middlesex; 3 grandchildren; sisters, Joyce M. Duke and husband, Wade of Bailey, Jan M. Kemp and husband, William of Middlesex; brothers, Rueben Matthews and wife, Rhonda of Middlesex, Tony Matthews of Bailey and Danny Matthews of Bailey and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Annie Jarrell Matthews, and sister, Peggy Anne Matthews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Stony Hill Church Children's Home Building Fund, 9646 Stony Hill Church Road, Middlesex, North Carolina, 27557, in Memory of Robert Matthews.
