ROCKY MOUNT - Gertie Burt Allen-Council, age 86, passed away on January 18, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Church of Christ in Rocky Mount. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount. Visitation will be held from 10-11a.m. prior to services at the church with the family present from 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Survivors include her children, Paul Allen, Jr. (Debra), Evangelist Jetta Laurence (Michael) and Phyllis Mitchell all of Rocky Mount. and Melvin R. Allen of Roxboro, NC; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Z.B. Burt (Winnie) of Battleboro and sister, Betty Lucas of Rocky Mount; a host of other relatives and friends.
