NASHVILLE - Nelson Ray Winstead, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Born in Nash County on December 4, 1960, he was the son of the late John Aster Winstead, Sr.

Nelson is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jill Myers Winstead; his daughter Kristie Marie Winstead Wilson (Andrew); one grandchild; his mother Flossie Fisher Winstead; his brother John Aster Winstead, Jr. (Felicia); his sister Faye Winstead Bone (Roy); nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Rocky Mount. Visitation with the family will follow the service until 4:30 PM inside the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

A private family burial will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville.
