JEAN COPPEDGE MATTHEWS

Jean Coppedge Matthews, 88, passed away March 2, 2023. She was born September 10, 1934 in Nash County to the late Alfred and Eula Green Coppedge. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, James Richard Hill. Jr.; second husband Bobbie Lee Matthews; sisters, Mavis, Thelma and Pauline; brothers, Deurad, Clavis, Otha and Wayne.

Jean is survived by her sons Bill Matthews (Margaret), Bob Matthews (Anna) and Rex Matthews; daughter Jewel Ballard (Joel); six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; brothers-n-law Larry Matthews; sisters-in-law, Nell Killette and Shirley Ayers; several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. The service will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Mt. Zion OFW Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Summerlin officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Mt. Zion OFW Baptist Church Cemetery.
