GEORGE ALTON BOTTOMS, SR.

BATTLEBORO - George Alton Bottoms, Sr., age 79, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Born in Edgecombe County on May 27, 1943, he was the son of the late George Burnice Bottoms and Polly Williams Bottoms. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kay Francis Shearin Bottoms; his grandson, Aaron Bottoms; his sister, Katie Taylor; and his brother, Bobby Bottoms.

George is survived by his son, George Alton Bottoms, Jr. and wife, Kelly, of Whitakers; four grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; his sisters, Janice Holder, Brenda Mott, and Wanda Carpenter; and his brother, Rodger Bottoms.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Williams Family Cemetery, 1429 Flood's Store Road, Rocky Mount with Rev. Jerome Mozingo officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in George's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St, Oxford, NC 27565.
