ROCKY MOUNT - Gretchen Rackley Johnson, age 79, passed away June 10, 2023. She was born in Nash County on June 28, 1943 to Medy C. and Mary Kathryn Rackley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Artemus "Art" Johnson; sister, Linda Griffin and brother, Medy C. "Ricky" Rackley, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Artemus "Ransom" Johnson, Jr. and wife, Heather; daughters, Scarlett Johnson Pittman and husband, Gregg, and Christiania Faith Johnson; sister, Peggy Drummond; four grandchildren; sister-in-law, Melinda Johnson Williamson; one niece; three great-nieces; one great-nephew.
A service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 7 p.m. at Harvest Baptist Church, 2325 Old Mill Road, Rocky Mount with Pastor Mike Dew officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 6 p.m. Interment will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd, Rocky Mount. |
