Dorothy "Dot" Leighton Matthews passed away on July 28, 2023. She was born July 5, 1931 to the late Kenneth and Mary Leighton of Newfane, New York. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Atlee Glenn Matthews and her sister Lillian Corwin.

Dot is survived by her son, Darrell G. Mathews and wife Denise; daughter Dale Webster and late husband H.B.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church, 1779 Mt. Zion Church Road, Nashville, NC 27856.
