ROCKY MOUNT - Tommy Ray Johnson "TJ", age 66, passed away December 29, 2023. Born in Nash Couty on August 18, 1957, he was the son of the late William Rufus Johnson and Margaret Lee Brown Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Langley Johnson; his sister, Katie Ellis and husband, Frank; his brother, Butch Johnson; and his nephew, Ray Ellis.

Tommy is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Burns and Cathy Overton and husband, Michael; his son, Tommy "Wayne" Johnson and wife, Pamela; 7 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Betty Pierce and husband, Dan, and Tammy Edmondson; his brother, Terry Johnson; his sister-in-law, Becky Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Johnny Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Tommy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
