ROCKY MOUNT - Phyllis Shearin Malpass, age 59, passed away January 22, 2024. She was born in Nash County on November 3, 1964. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Malpass and father, John Arthur Shearin.

She is survived by her mother, Louise Viverette Shearin of Rocky Mount; sister, Ann Shearin Coley (Rev. James), also of Rocky Mount; brother, Terry Jonathan Shearin of Kinston; and other extended family.

A memorial service was held January 26, 2024 at Nashville Church of God, Nashville with Reverend Bruce Brumfield officiating.
