WHITAKERS - Thelma Jane Gray Cain Flanagan, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Born in Sampson County on June 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Cain and Kathleen Christine Fair Cain. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Franklin "Frank" Flanagan; her brother, Chester Cain; and her sisters, Phyllis Cain Thornton and Cathy Diane Cain Horrell.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Timothy Flanagan (Pam) and Gregory Flanagan (Pansy); 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Judy Cain Norris, Linda Cain Peterson (Fulton), and Sheron Cain Jones (Eric); her brothers, Joe Cain (Jean) and Colman Cain; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

A service was held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Rocky Mount with Pastor Steve Webb officiating. Entombment followed the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum.
