ROCKY MOUNT - Luther C. Smith, age 84, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024. Born in Wilson County on September 4, 1940, he was the son of the late Richard Samuel Smith and Roxie Elizabeth Mizzell Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Cage Williams, and an infant brother.
Luther is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Pridgen Smith; his sons, Steve Smith, and wife Mandy, Ricky Smith, and wife Donna, and Luke Smith, and wife Karla; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild expected in February 2025.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 17,2024 at 2 p.m. at Grace Baptist Temple, 8923 West Mount Drive Rocky Mount, with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Grace Baptist Temple.
