Ella Gwendell "Dell" Poland Carpenter, 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Dell was born in Nash County on March 16, 1945. She was the daughter of the late James Elmer Poland and Lessie Odell Poland. She was the wife of the late Harry Lee Carpenter, Sr.. They celebrated 59 years of marriage. Dell was the eighth child of nine children.

She is survived by four children, Lynne Spencer (Gene) of Middlesex, Angie Carpenter of Spring Hope, Lee Carpenter (Sherry) of Nashville and Mark Carpenter (Lisa) of Elm City; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Lynn Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
