Food Lion to sell advance fair tickets
With 500 retail sites, plus the Internet, fairgoers are sure to find a convenient method for buying State Fair tickets in advance. For the first time, all 492 Food Lion grocery stores in the state will sell admission tickets at the cash register or customer service counter. Admission tickets plus ride sheets will be available at six malls, the State Fairgrounds and the Agriculture Building leading up to the fair.

Minimum lot size to increase by 45 percent
Nash County's Board approved a text amendment that will increase the minimum lot size in the A-1 zone from 30,000 square feet to 43,560 square feet. The action was taken during the board's regular meeting held on Tuesday.

2005-06 SAT scores higher
Nash-Rocky Mount Schools students scored higher on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) for the 2005-6 school year overall than for 2004-5, and fewer students took the test—47% of those eligible. Over the last three years, the total number of N-RMS students taking the test has dropped 1% each year.

Chase leads to gunfire
A Nashville woman stole a deputy's patrol vehicle last Tuesday night and led officers on a chase that ended with the woman allegedly being shot by a Nashville police officer.

According to reports from the Nash County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Rose Marie Augerlovoie-Burgess, of Robbins Lane, was picked up by a deputy on outstanding warrants for breaking and entering and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
