Spring Hope's Board vowed to tackle flooding streets during a public comment section at their Monday night meeting.

Thirty-four drunk drivers were taken off the streets last week, thanks to a partnership between area law enforcement officials.
NASHVILLE - Lois Sykes Chappell, 90, of the Corinth Community of Nashville died on August 12, 2006. She was born to Queenie May King Sykes and Thomas Wilson Sykes on May 26, 1916.
ROCKY MOUNT- Richard Stuart Dickens, 60, passed away Friday, August 11, 2006. He was born March 14, 1946 in Nash County, son of Richard "JR" Randolph and Doris Guy Dickens.
ROCKY MOUNT – Herman Ashley Bradley, 89, died on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006. A graveside service was held Aug. 12 at Pineview Cemetery with the Rev. Chet Rains officiating.

Two Nash County residents were killed in separate tractor accidents recently.
RALEIGH – Cliff Joyner, president of Joyner's Supermarket in Nashville, has been elected to the board of directors for the Carolinas Food Industry Council (CFIC). The formal announcement was made during the CFIC annual convention held July 27-30 at the Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Nash Soil and Water Conservation District Office is accepting applications for fiscal year 2007 for the North Carolina Agriculture Cost Share Program. Applications will be ranked in priority to be funded based on such criteria as soil erosion, livestock management, animal waste/mortality and wildlife habitat.

Two or three months ago I went before the Nashville Town Council asking that they look into keeping the Glover Park open for use by all residents. Usually the park is in use for organized ball games but is closed to local children for pick up games or other uses.

Well I guess the "sleepy little town" isn't so sleepy anymore, with the mega-conglomerate store now to be built within its borders.
Just when I think I can't be any more disappointed in our town council, something else happens that deepens my concern about how they're handling some of the town's issues lately.

NRMPS high schools will conduct Freshman Orientation and/or Transition Academies to welcome new students and help them become familiar with high school schedules and study techniques for success.
