How far will God let us drift before he saves us?
How far will God let us drift before he saves us?

My wife told me a story several years ago, which took the form of a modern-day parable.
Jesus often relied on parables in the Bible to compare something in everyday life to a spiritual truth. However, many of us have trouble applying them in today's world because we don't belong to the culture for which they were written. In other words, the importance of the spiritual truth is easily misunderstood - if not lost altogether - because we can't relate to the everyday example to which Jesus compares it.

Intersections: God and Life
Intersections: God and Life

Every time you read scripture, it is like reading it for the first time. The word of God is pregnant with truth to be discovered. Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." The Bible is the living word of God.
In this 17th stanza of Psalm 119, the psalmist declares another truth about scripture.

Youth provides school supplies to third graders

NASHVILLE - Elementary school parents are well aware that with the start of school comes the "supply list" requested by teachers for student use. The lists can seem daunting, but items such as notebooks, pencils and glue sticks are needed aspects of classroom life. For parents of 3rd grade students at Nashville Elementary, however, almost that entire list has been taken care of, thanks to the generosity and hard work of a Nashville teen, Joshua Aaron Parker, a rising Senior at Faith Christian School.

Those silly moments we will cherish forever
Those silly moments we will cherish forever

Anyone that's ever lost an important person -- especially a parent -- knows all about those moments that come up in the first year after a passing.
Sometimes, something random will trigger a silly memory. I had one of those recently about my mama, who passed away in March.
I've seen a lot of ads for concealed carry classes and self-defense sessions for women lately. It reminded me of the time Mama decided to take one of those classes (she did both, about 30 years apart).
