Nashville Celebrates Christmas
Nashville’s annual Children’s Christmas Parade marched on Saturday, despite the cold and rainy weather.
Events were moved inside, however, and children paraded down a hallway in the Claude Mayo Jr. Administration Building. Despite the change in plans, the day was still a success, said Amy Beasley, a Nashville Chamber member who heads up the Christmas parade.
“I thought it went off really well,” Beasley said. “I was surprised at how well it went.”

Nash County teens share the Cincinnati Stage
It is a small world after all, especially when it comes to Mary-Kaitlyn Winstead and Sam Ray. With roots well seated in Nash County, both have a strong passion for musical theatre. The Anderson High School Theatre Department has been working very hard over the past six weeks to bring this classic to the high school stage on Nov. 19 - 21, 2009. More ...

Winter has arrived!  The nippy weather adds to the Christmas feeling.  On this second Sunday of Advent, the theme is “Peace”.  The Advent readings were by Lynn Griffin and Charlotte G. Brothers, who lit the candle.  Pastor Whitehouse chose as his sermon topic, “There is No Doubt”.  The scriptural background was Luke 1: 34.  God entered into the lives of ordinary people on the first Christmas. He is still ready to enter lives today and give His peace.  The special music was by Karen Edwards, who sang “Mary, Did You Know?”  She was accompanied by Jane May.  For the children’s sermon Beverly Wilson talked to the children about the meaning of “peace”. They had earlier decorated tree ornaments with peace messages and each child received one to take home. More ...

It was great to see a lot of you at the fish fry on Friday night. Thank you all for your participation. We had a good crowd and fellowship. Sunday morning our minister Daniel West brought us another inspirational sermon on “The reason for the season Shine Jesus Shine.” It was preceded by a beautiful song from our choir, “Let There be Peace on Earth.” Flowers were beautiful poinsettias which had been given by Mary Lee and James “Stump” Bass. They always decorate in December with these flowers which continue to be used through the Christmas season. On Tuesday night, the 1st of December, several ladies and gentlemen met and decorated the church which included putting up the lovely Christmas tree. More ...
