A HAPPY ENDING (relevance: 100%, date: Dec 18, 2024)
LYNCHBURG, VA. -- What a way to go out.
That's the main theme of Quinton Cooley's senior season as a member of the Liberty University football squad as the former Southern Nash legend once again excelled as the Flames' star running back during the 2024 campaign.
Coming off a monstrous junior year, Cooley kept the pace this fall as the rushed for 1,254 yards (19th in the nation) and 13 touchdowns (26th in the nation) while helping the Flames post a strong 8-3 overall record.

Nash planning board ties vote for Middlesex rezoning (relevance: 50%, date: Feb 5, 2025)
NASHVILLE - A planned public hearing Feb. 3rd on a rezoning request for a new 90-home subdivision on Old Lewis School Board, Middlesex, was postponed Monday, with the project future uncertain. The application by Todd Glover asked for conditional rezoning from R-40 to RA-30-CZ.
Adam Tyson, Nash County Planning Director, told county commissioners that it was his understanding that the project developer had asked commissioners to delay the public hearing and their consideration, commenting that "the applicant has had a shorter than typical period of time to process the comments and concerns that the members of the public made at the (Jan. 21) planning board meeting."

Peachtree Hills subdivision rezoning denied (relevance: 50%, date: Feb 5, 2025)
NASHVILLE - A rezoning request for a new, 72-lot subdivision on Peachtree Hills Road, Spring Hope, was turned down by Nash commissioners Feb. 3, but does not preclude the possibility of a somewhat smaller, scaled-down version at the same location, as permitted under current zoning.
L.D. Land Holdings LLC, the current owner of about 129 acres near the Franklin County line on both sides of Peachtree Hills Road and along the south side of Savage Road, requested conditional rezoning from A1 to RA30 for higher-density, single family homes.

Northern was dominant once again, piling up 128 points to outdistance runner-up Nash Central, which closed with 83 tallies.

NASHVILLE - For the second time in two months, the Nashville town council has voted to table a decision on rezoning two chunks of land off Cooke Road in the light of heavy local opposition to proposed land improvements for a Ripe Revival food processing and educational complex.
The council voted unanimously Feb. 4 to table while asking two requests of Will Kornegay, Ripe Revival founder and CEO: for more research to be done about how to mitigate potential biohazard risks to a nearby poultry farm and for Kornegay to address potential issues of noise and light pollution from a planned outdoor amphitheater at the complex.
