Nash taxes to rise by 4 cents
A property tax increase barely slipped through Monday morning during Nash County's regular board meeting, as the board voted 4-3 to approve a four-cents property tax increase. The increase is one-cents lower than the five-cents that was proposed in the 2006-2007 budget and two-cents lower than what was originally discussed.

Nash-Rocky Mount Schools' (N-RMS) Board of Education plans to find solutions to disturbing bus problems this summer and will consider the use of adult monitors to ride on buses with the most difficulties. Current bus problems were brought to the Board's attention at their meeting this past Monday night by three parents and two students from the Southern Nash Middle and High schools area.

Red Oak - Dortches Park is approved for state grant
The Town of Red Oak has been granted $500,000 in matching grant monies by the State of North Carolina in order to fund the new Red Oak – Dortches Park, slated to be the first of several new park projects in Nash County. The funds will come from the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund and will be matched with funds from the towns of Red Oak and Dortches. In addition, the park project was earlier awarded $250,000 in federal matching funds to aid in the park construction.
